5 New Men’s Activewear Brands We Like In 2020

As activewear becomes more mainstream and the need for crossover wear expands, new sportswear brands seemingly rise and fall like dominos. But, as the years go on and materials, designs, and trends evolve we are left with some awesome new activewear brands competing for their share of the market. Men’s activewear is now almost indistinguishable from traditional apparel.

The shirt you wear to casual night is the same shirt you wear to the gym. The shorts you wear to the game are also the shorts you wear to surf, lift, and run. Which to us, is pretty freaking awesome.

So, although some of the “new” activewear brands we like in 2020 are actually new active collections from established brands, they are still new and noteworthy in 2020. Established brands releasing activewear collections only speaks to the demand of this type of apparel… and we are all about it.

Municipal

Municipal was started by actor and businessman, Mark Whalberg and his long time business partner, Stephen Levinson. Their goal was to create gear that was both incredibly versatile and extremely comfortable which they branded “sport utility gear.”

It’s essentially on-trend casual wear that can be worn for any active occasion; days out with the family, pick-up games at the park, hardcore lifting sessions at 5am, 18 holes with the boys on Sunday. Their collection includes sweats, training shorts and shirts, polos, headwear, and a “coming soon” section that will dive much deeper.

Stretch materials, comfy fabrics, and a military-inspired look make this brand one of our favorite new players in the men’s activewear space.

Western Rise

Inspired by the mountains and outdoor life of the Western US, Western Rise creates performance clothing for everyday. Their gear is timeless, well-designed, and meant for those who get out and explore.

Western Rise focuses on four key elements: technical fabrics, timeless styles, durable construction, and sustainable manufacturing. They really do their research on sourcing the best materials, choosing respectable factories, and creating quality products with minimal impact on the environment.

Although their complete collection includes a variety of pants and button down shirts, their new activewear line is what caught our eye. The Session Tee, Movement Short, and Spectrum Jogger are all made of lightweight, performance material that is meant to perform.

Imperial Motion

Imperial Motion was created almost two decades ago by a couple of kids in their garage in Tacoma, WA. The surf-inspired lifestyle label has grown into a refined and well-polished apparel brand that represents the “underachievers.” Don’t let that fool you though, their design, aesthetic, and quality is tight.

Just recently, they expanded into the activewear space with training essentials like shorts and shirts. In fact, they put together an entire “Active Kit” for all of the at-home training you’ll be doing during the pandemic. The kit Includes the Density Premium T-Shirt, Mills Zip-Up Sweatshirt, Mills Jogger Sweatpant, Everything Boardshort, and Curser Sock.

Their style is surf-inspired, neutral tones, and mature. We are on board with it 100.

Proof

Proof is the active/casual wear brand from men’s gear site, Huckberry. According to them, their clothes are “designed for work, play, and travel – Proof updates everyday essentials with the latest performance fabrics and construction techniques to help you get more out of your clothing.”

The Proof collection is more casual wear than gym wear, but with performance fabrics like merino wool and nylon, you can expect them to hold up just as well against sweat, stink, and an active lifestyle.
