Part I of this photo essay documented the first few days of competition, which included the lower belts, juveniles, and masters. What made this year’s Euros so exciting, however, was the black belts, especially the absolute division.

If you’ve never been to the Lisbon-based competition, it’s one of the loudest jiu-jitsu tournaments on circuit. Some say it’s the acoustics of the sunken lime green-walled arena. What really makes Euros so audible however, is the passion of the crowd.

The pride and intense emotion of the European people is why the 2018 European Championship was one for the books.
