New Player Spuds Apparel Aims to Build the Perfect Short

The lines between gym wear and casual wear have been blurred. Seemingly everyday, big name companies are putting more resources into “athleisure” and their sportswear development. And as our lives continue to include daily trips to the gym, our need for crossover activewear that performs well in action and looks good on the go surges. That’s why Paul Dickey, founder of Spuds Apparel, is on a mission to create the perfect pair of activewear shorts.

The California based startup set out to create a pair of workout shorts that could stand up to the demands of high intensity training, look good during all parts of your day, and provide features to add ease to your life. The result was their flagship shorts, which feature Friiz material to keep you cool and dry with added anti-odor and waterproof coatings, the Gravi pocket system to keep your phone safely secured at your hip and out of the way, and four-way stretch to move with you. To top it off, the shorts are manufactured in San Francisco and are currently available on Kickstarter at a discounted rate.

Here’s what founder Paul Dickey had to say about the new shorts:

“We wanted to create a pair of shorts that could be put on in the morning, wear on a run, to the gym, at the beach, and still turn heads at the bars. All of this, while including design and technology features that simplify your life.
We were tired of not having anywhere to put our devices that we love to use while working out. The Gravi™ pocket system is designed for the future of large screened devices. No more armbands, no more putting your phone on the ground, and no more worrying about your device during intense training sessions.”
From the very beginning we wanted the diversity of California to be represented into
Spuds™. From the color of the shorts being named after different locations to the shorts being hand-made in San Francisco, these shorts are as diverse and versatile as California. We take pride in having a product designed and made in the USA.”
