Hylete, the Southern California activewear brand that has become a favorite amongst CrossFitters and Functional Fitness athletes alike, recently launched four new products available via the Hylete Project.
The Hylete Project crowdsources the brand’s future releases through “back it” pricing, meaning customers votes with their dollars for the creation of a product.
Before a product is made, Hylete releases images and specs about a new garment online. Customers then choose to support the product or not, including what color they prefer, by pre-ordering the item at a discounted price. If enough orders are made to reach the specified threshold before a certain date, then the item gets made in the chosen colors. It the “Kickstarter” method of apparel production.

We are now seeing this type of production across many industries, as it gives customers the opportunity to truly get what they want, while allowing manufacturers to produce goods that are guaranteed to sell.
This month, Hylete released two new walk shorts that are hybrid shorts made with performance material but a more formal cut and design for life outside of the gym. The two options include the Modus Flex-cotton walk short, which is a flex-cotton 4-way stretch short, and the Stratix Flex-woven walk short, which uses the same fabric the Hylete Verge II workout short.
Both are available for funding at $51 pre-sale in black, navy, and gray, and will retail for $85.
The Modus Flex-cotton short will also be available in a pant with a retail of $120 and current back-it pricing at $72.

The latest offerings from the Hylete Project also include the Icon Performance Boxer Brief, which are already close to full funding in all three colorways.
