If you haven’t noticed…activewear is growing. We at Delta Grade honestly believe the future of all clothing is performance clothing. Fabrics that regulate temperature, cuts that looks great but promote mobility and freedom of movement, and crossover style that is wearable to the office, around town, and obviously to the gym. So if you’re a regular reader of our site, give yourself a pat on the back… you’re ahead of the game.
The following five brands are new to the activewear scene, but like you, are already ahead of the game. We don’t just pick any old brand for our “Top” lists, but companies that bring something new to the scene and offer something original. Anyone can make performance wear and slap a label on it. It’s what these brands do behind the scenes that set them apart.
RYU
This label may not be brand new but after a short-lived start in the MMA world, they recently rebranded and their new product is exactly what we like. They’ve got clean style, progressive designs that match current trends, simple branding, and they build products for the stuff we support…barbells, box jumps, combat sports a.k.a hard training. Plus they do extensive research and development in-house, meaning they don’t outsource their process overseas, so their product is built and tested by and for athletes. Check out their site here.. (plus they offer $25 off your first purchase).
Grand AC
The Grand Athletic Club grew out of the success of the men’s apparel club, Five Four. Owning a keen sense of current men’s style, the Five Four creators developed an activewear line with heavy influences from the L.A. street scene. Their products carry just as much street cred as they do gym cred. Modern cuts, current designs, a minimal aesthetic, and gear that performs when you need it is what you’ll get from Grand A.C. Stay tuned because we see this brand going places.
Vuori
Based out of Encinitas, California, a small, active beach town in San Diego, Vuori’s SoCal influences are readily seen throughout their collection. Created by pro skateboarders who couldn’t find activewear that fit their style, the brand offers sustainable products (when possible) that have a prominent west coast beach feel to them. Subdued colors, floral patterns, lots of horizontal stripes, and workout shorts that look like boardshorts are the resounding themes at Vuori. Check ‘em out brah.
Olivers
Now in their third year, instead of releasing an extensive line of new products, Olivers has decided to master the essentials. Their core offering is small, but they are committed to perfecting what they already have. That’s why we like ’em, plus they offer a 365 Replace & Repair guarantee. They’ll replace any faulty product within one year of purchase. Their selection is refined, their aesthetic is timeless, and they’re growing the way a brand should; one step at a time. Plus here’s $10 bux off your first purchase.
SQD Athletica
We don’t even know if SQD Athletics is a new brand, but they’re new to us. Based out of Australia, this brand just gets it. They understand that style is not a momentary thing that’s turned on only when you need it. It reigns throughout your day and life. Although they’re an activewear brand, SQD even has a streetwear category on their website because style doesn’t stop and start at the gym. Check em out because you’ll be one of the few stateside rockin’ this brand.
