We reported last April that men’s essentials brand Mack Weldon was expanding into activewear with the release of its AIRKNITx line. We got our hands on some of the gear and it has become some of our absolute favorite training apparel to date. From the cut and fit of the shirts and underwear to the performance of the fabric, Mack Weldon nailed it on their first go into the activewear space.
That’s why we were super stoked to hear the brand was launching a line of accessories. If their activewear is any representation of what their new launch is like, we’re confident Mack Weldon cut no corners in the production of their new goods.
Mack Weldon’s just unveiled the ION Series, a collection of upgraded accessories. The initial assortment of ION product includes: Wallet ($68), Weekender Bag ($148), Travel Kit ($48), and Swipe Glove ($28). The AirFlex Hat ($38) and Convertible Backpack ($148) will launch in early 2018.
Founded in 2012 as a men’s basics brand, Mack Weldon’s entry into accessories is consequential of two factors: overwhelming consumer demand and boiling frustration from Mack Weldon’s design team over existing accessory brands; they felt that the current market lacks bags that balance form and function. The goal with the ION Series, as with all Mack Weldon product, is to elevate and innovate with an eye on solving important functional gaps.
Notable features include antimicrobial, silver-lined interior compartments for both the ION Weekender and ION Travel Kit to ensure the bags’ contents remain clean and odor-free; and a waterproof zip closure, RFID-blocking interior for the ION Wallet. Through a partnership with CHRGR, a leading provider of branded mobile power, the ION Weekender, Backpack, and Wallet are equipped with an integrated, high-performance mobile charger for iPhone and Android.
